Houston Woman Shot in Traffic in Possible Road Rage Incident
A Houston woman was hospitalized in critical condition Friday after being shot in the back of the head while driving in busy traffic.
The shooting occurred around 7:00 a.m. as the woman was driving along the southbound lane of the I-45 North Freeway near FM 1960. She told police that the driver of a white SUV began taunting her and driving aggressively after she honked her horn at him. He then pointed a gun at her vehicle and began firing, striking her in the head.
The woman was able to pull over and call 9-1-1. Despite slipping in and out of consciousness, she was able to describe the driver of the SUV. The victim was taken to Hermann Hospital where doctors found bullet fragments in the bottom portion of her brain. Her husband is reportedly with her.
The victim described her attacker as a man wearing a blue baseball cap. Authorities are reviewing TxDOT and other surveillance footage from the area to determine if the shooting was caught on video and whether or not the driver of the SUV can be identified.
