A nickname is something that you don't usually get to choose. It can be good or bad, but it's typically given by someone else and you're just stuck with it.

Whether you have a silly-sounding last name that is easy to poke at, or some embarrassing moment dubbed you a glorious nickname, it is what it is. The same can be said for nicknames we give our beloved Texas towns.

Texans simply do not hold back when it comes to nicknames, so here's a warning now if you have delicate sensibilities. Some of these names are pretty brutal, perhaps undeserving. Others, well...they walked right into it.

Also, I'd like to state for the record, that although I asked my buddies to share with me their favorite TEXAS nicknames, everyone needed to mention their favorite Oklahoma nicknames: Broke-la-homa, and Joke-la-homa.
