Independence Day is a big deal for Central Texas Communities.   Here's what's happening in Belton, Temple and on Fort Hood. 

 

Belton

Belton's Independence Day celebration actually begins on Wednesday, July 1 with a Kick off BBQ lunch at Yettie Polk Park. Adults are $5, kids are $3.

The Carnival, and Western Gift Show begin on Thursday July 2 and continue thru the 4th.

The main attraction, the PRCA rodeo also starts on Thursday.

July 4, the world renowned Belton Fourth of July Parade starts at 10:00 a.m. on Main Street at 10th Avenue, travels south on Main Street to Central Avenue, turns east on Central Avenue, turns left on Birdwell and ends on 4th Ave.

Get on over to Yettie Polk Park at 11, for the free Festival on Nolan Creek.  There will be various vendors, food, and music. Holly Tucker from "The Voice" will perform at noon. You can check out the full schedule at rodeobelton.com.

Temple

Temple Parks and Recreation plus HEB equals the 17th Annual H-E-B All American Family Fun Fest, Saturday, July 4th at Miller Park (1919 North 1st Street).

It’s FREE!!!! There will be family fun activities like inflatables and a mechanical bull.  Of course the splash pads will be open.

Concerts begin at 6:30 with Blackwater Band and then High Fidelity.

In the end, there will be a fireworks show!

The H-E-B All American Family Fun Fest is free and open to everyone. Limited parking will be available inside the park near the intersection of North 1st and West Virginia Avenue. Bring lawn chairs and blankets for the concerts and fireworks

Fort Hood
Fort Hood begins every Fourth of July with a morning run, this one is a 5K, full of paint. Runners and walkers begin in a clean white T-shirt at 8 am, and end up splashed with color, from top to bottom.

The rest of the activities begin at 5 pm at Hood Stadium on Clear Creek Road.  It's free and open to the public. There will be food and drink for purchase. Civilians enter through the Clear Creek Gate and you don't need a visitors pass.
