Inclimate Weather Can’t Stop the Fight Against Heart Disease
KWTX reported that the year of 2018 marked a very special milestone for a walk of mass importance in the Central Texas area over the weekend.
Even in soggy conditions on Saturday, many Central Texas headed to Mclane Stadium for the 25th Annual Waco Heart Walk.
The walk has the same purpose as it did 25 years ago. That purpose is to raise money to cure stroke and heart disease.
People from all over the area from teams to walk as a unit, and KWTX's Tara Merenger was in the mix herself with the walk.
Since the initial Waco Heart Walk back in 1993, mortality rates have dropped significantly from cardiovascualr disease and stroke. The mortality rate is down as much as 45 percent, but organizers of the event said there is still much work to be done.
