Were you freaked out by the Instagram update yesterday?

Instagram is always changing something up, but this time, the social media platform claims it was a mistake.

Yesterday, IG sent its users into a frenzy when they realized that you could no longer view how many likes they were receiving on a picture or video.

If you're on social media, you know 'likes' on a post means a lot to certain people. Some people make money off of 'likes' while others are ego-driven by the attention. Well before yesterday, users were able to see the actual amount of other users liking their posts.

Back in 2019, Instagram had announced that they were going to try the feature out but never specifically gave a date, so it was a surprise for many.

After backlash Instagram tweeted, “We’ve been testing a new experience to hid likes on Feed posts. We unintentionally added more people to the test today, which was a bug—we’re fixing this issue and restoring like counts to those people as soon as possible.”

Check out their tweet below:

I guess they weren't joking because it has been fixed!

Did you notice the issue? What was your reaction?

By the way, Instagram has now introduced an expansion of Instagram Live that lets you loop up to three guests in your live room. Check it out!
