Slang has a funny way of evolving over time. It seems like every decade has its own catchphrases. This topic came up in a conversation with a friend of mine not too long ago. These vintage words and phrases make speech fun.

The 1980s were a decade filled with plenty of pop culture, technological advances, and some unique fashion trends. Together it influenced the slang terms that were popular back then. I say bring some of this colorful language back. An article from Attalie Anne came up with some good ones but I also have my favorites. While some have fallen out of use, some deserve to make a comeback.

Here's some slang we used in the 1980s that deserves a second chance.

Short for radical, this was used to describe something that was really cool or awesome.

Gnarly

Originally a surfing term, gnarly describes something that is extreme, impressive, or really good.

Grody

Taken from the word grotesque, grody was used to define something as gross or disgusting.

Totally was a common way to say that you completely agreed with something.

Bodacious

A term used to describe something that was excellent, impressive, or attractive.

This was popular lingo to emphasize agreement or excitement, often associated with the whole "Valley Girl" stereotype.

No duh

A sarcastic way of saying "obviously" or "of course".
