Will Texas Get Any Rainfall From Hurricane Isaias?
The 2026 Atlantic hurricane season has been one for the record books in that not a single hurricane has formed. There have been 8 tropical storms, with Edouard making the most Texas headlines out of those. But forecasters believe that the season's first hurricane will soon be forming in the Gulf. This storm will be named Isaias, pronounced ee sah EE es.
What Impact Will This Storm Have On Texas?
Outside of some slightly higher waves along the Upper Texas coast over the next several days, Isaias' impact on the Lone Star State should be minimal. Rain chances will only extend into south-central Louisiana, so dry conditions across the Pineywoods will continue through at least the first part of next week.
Where Will Isaias Make The Biggest Impact?
Meteorologists at the National Hurricane Center are advising residents from New Orleans to Pensacola to keep a watchful eye on the daily advisories. Some computer models are suggesting the area from Gulfport, Mississippi, to Mobile, Alabama, could be in for hurricane-force winds by late Friday into Saturday. This fast-forward motion of Isaias should limit the threat of widespread flooding. Isolated rainfall totals of up to 10 inches are possible, but that will be the exception
Several computer models expect the storm system to venture towards the east, which would bring the landfall into the Florida Panhandle. Hurricane hunters are scheduled to make their first trip into the disturbance on Wednesday, which should give forecasters a better idea of the storm's organization and potential track.
