When Does Dumb Daylight Saving Time Now End In Texas?
Can I just tell you how much I detest Daylight Saving Time and the fact that we spend over half our year in a completely pointless state of altered reality? Of course this is not an issue that is singular to the state of Texas, almost the whole country is all wrong with the annual time shifting.
Look, normally I am not the type of person to point at the rest of the world and how they do things, and say, "Maybe we should try to be more like them?" However, considering less than 40% of the world uses Daylight Saving Time, maybe we should be looking into opting out like everyone else?
Is it Daylight Saving Time or Daylight Savings Time, and why do we do it?
First of all, please don't make me get my retired grammar teaching mother into this conversation, there is no "S" on the end of saving in Daylight Saving Time. Secondly, the main reason behind doing it is because of how much the amount of daylight fluctuates throughout the seasons based on your position on the globe.
Why did Daylight Saving Time get started?
The premise made sense in the early industrialization of the globe for countries further to the north and south of the equator, but now that we have shift working going around the clock, there really is no reason to have sunset an extra hour later on the clock. Plus, our lighting is better and cheaper than ever from a technology standpoint.
In case you were wondering, DST ends at 2 AM on Sunday, November 5th. It is scheduled to return at 2 AM on Sunday, March 10th, 2024.
What other countries are in the minority for using DST?
Europe is the only high concentration of Standard Time deniers and if we ended DST, they would all probably think the Earth was flat again. Also, Europe is a mess, why would we want to be anything like them?
