Two of the most respected individuals in the city of Killeen, especially within the Black community, would have to be Babatundé and his better half, Lady Barbara, or simply Miss Barbara.

Who Is Babtunde, and Ms Barbara?

As the former owners of Under One Roof, this couple has consistently reminded us as a community, "To whom you give your money, to whom you give your power." It's a quote I've lived by for most of my life. These individuals are deeply involved in the Black community throughout Central Texas, and because of that, people are truly appreciative. There aren't many people who give so much of themselves or invest so much into their community. When they do, they deserve to be recognized and appreciated.

Why Is This Event Important?

Now, don't get me wrong. I'm not saying Babatundé and Miss Barbara are the only individuals who care about and support the community, but they are definitely among my favorites. They're passionate about teaching the next generation, not only what it means to appreciate, embrace, and respect the color of their skin, but also how to accept who they are and remain knowledgeable about their African American roots. So when I heard that the Black History 360 Book Fair, featuring African American authors, was being presented by Babatundé and Miss Barbara, I knew the people of Central Texas needed to know about it.

Where Is This Event Taking Place?

The event will take place at the Killeen E-Center, located at 809 N. Gray Street in Killeen, on August 30 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Admission is free to the public. Knowledge is power. To thrive and succeed, our children need it, and this event is a perfect opportunity to provide those essential tools to your babies. There's a statement that Babatundé and Miss Barbara often share: "Those who don't know the truth can learn from reading." I truly believe that.
