Big news for the city of Austin! According to Community Impact, the well-known Korean-inspired dish, yubu, has made its way to the city. Even though the birthplace of Neko Yubu is Dallas, Texas, the soft opening for Neko Yubu in Austin was August 8. Connor Park and Dean Kim, the owners of this delicious and well-known spot, have really changed the game when it comes to Asian-inspired dishes in the city of Austin, in my opinion.

I’ve seen Neko Yubu all over TikTok, especially those delicious-looking fried tofu skins stuffed with so many tasty ingredients. They look so good that you almost want to eat them right through the screen!

What Is Yubu?

Yubu is typically filled with options such as beef bulgogi, egg, mayo, fresh salmon, butter, crab, or my favorite, tuna mayo, with a side of soup. You really cannot go wrong with this dish. And washing it down with one of their fruit-based drinks makes it even better. Whether you choose lemon, mango, guava, strawberry, or my favorite, kiwi, just know it’s all deliciousness!

Not to mention, this establishment also serves Korean iced coffee and matcha. The dishes are made to order, and you can also find a variety of Korean snacks and drinks at the establishment, including milk drinks and a fan favorite, shrimp crackers.

If you’ve never had a shrimp cracker, you are truly missing out. It literally tastes like shrimp, and it is so delicious! This opening really has, and I believe will continue to, change the game for Asian-inspired food in Austin. I’m excited to see what Neko Yubu brings to the city and can’t wait to try it for myself!
