USPS Looking Into An Alleged Austin, Texas Mail Dumping Incident
The United States Postal Service is currently investing as to why mail was illegally dumped into a Austin, Texas creek area. Here's what is known at the time of writing.
Citizen In Austin, Texas Alerts KXAN Of Mail Problem
Per KXAN, they were alerted to the situation following a tip from an unnamed resident. According to the person, they witnessed a mail carrier truck with the USPS pulled over on the side of the road. Following the sighting of this, the unnamed individual then went to investigate why the truck was there in the first place. What they discovered caused them to reach out to KXAN.
According to unidentified person, they found mail all around the area. Photos of the scene were provided to KXAN. Following the report, KXAN alerted the USPS, who began their investigation as to what happened.
USPS Releases Statement About Situation, Vows To Find Answers
A spokesperson for the organization told KXAN that the mail in question had successfully been collected from the area it was located. Due to the nature of the situation, USPS did not reveal any key details to KXAN, according to the “ongoing status of the investigation.” However, USPS did provide comment to the news station:
“The overwhelming majority of Postal Service employees, which serve the public, are honest, hardworking, and trustworthy individuals who would never consider engaging in any type of criminal behavior.”
