While most people might write this off as a joke or an urban legend, this a story that has been deep within the lore of Texas for years. If you find yourself alone at night, you might come across the terrifying sight of someone staying at you from afar. At least that was the case with one Texas man named Brian Bethel who came across what is known as the "black eyed-children".

The story of the black eyed children takes us to Abilene, TX in the mid 90s.

Brian Bethel, who is a reporter for the Abilene-Reporter News, claimed to come across the black-eyed children (or black-eyed kids) in 1996. In an achieved interview from 2013, he explained that while he went to the site of a Camalott Communications building to pay his internet bill.

While sitting in his car, he heard on a knock on his driver's side door & he was greeted by 2 young boys, which he described were between the ages of 9 to 12. They asked Brian if they could get a ride to watch the "Mortal Kombat" movie. The whole time they were staring at him with "coal-black eyes". Brian said that he couldn't and the kids proceeded to bang on his car & one screamed:

"We can’t come in unless you tell us it’s OK. Let us in!"

Brian was able to escape but when he looked in his mirror, the children were gone. Even decades after this event, he is convinced that he was greeted, not by two human children, but by something else.

You might have heard of this story appear on the reality show, Monsters & Mysteries in America in 2012. And yes this story was told by Brian too.

Despite people calling this an "urban legend" or a "ghost story", Brian remains convinced that what he saw in Abilene back in 1996 was NOT a fictional story. You can hear everything told by Brian himself in a 2014 interview with Strange Chronicles at Midnight.

Real or not, it IS best advised that if you're going out at night, make sure you have a phone with you or someone else with you to keep yourself safe.
