Killeen Code Enforcement is Coming After You
America is the Land of the Free! Unless you make the neighborhood look bad, then it's the Land of the Fines.
KCEN-TV is reporting that the Killeen Code Enforcement started their beautification initiative this year, which means that you just might find a notice on your houseor car about something you're doing wrong.
Have mowed your lawn for awhile? BAM! Violator!
Parking your car on your grass and not in the driveway or on gravel? BAM! Violator!
Landscaping looks like crap compared to your neighbor's? BAM! Violator!
Parked your car across the sidewalk on your own property? BAM! Violator!
If you do get one of the code violations, don't go nuts right away. According to the city, you'll have 7 to 10 days to get it fixed. If you ignore it, the city might hire someone to either clean up your area or mow your yard, then charge you. The bill will most likely run you a few hundred dollars. If you ignore that, then the city will cite you again and you might have to pay a fine of up to a thousand dollars.
