Killeen Man Charged in Connection to Death on Libra Drive
A 22-year-old Killeen man could face murder charges after police say he violently assaulted a roommate who died on Christmas Eve.
Frankie Nathaniel Boyd III was booked into the Bell County Jail at 12:03 PM on Saturday, December 24. As of Wednesday, December 28, he was being held in lieu of $100,000 bond.
Shortly before 7 PM Thursday, December 22, police found 52-year-old Randy Joe Oliver of Killeen lying unresponsive in the front yard of a residence in the area of Libra Drive and Milky Way.
Oliver was taken to Seton Medical Center in Harker Heights before being transferred to Temple's Baylor Scott & White Hospital, where he passed away as a result of his injuries on Saturday, December 24.
According to police, a preliminary investigation revealed that Oliver was injured in a fight with Boyd. After interviewing Boyd, police submitted their findings to the Bell County District Attorney's Office, which returned a complaint charging Boyd with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon - a second degree felony.
The case is now being investigated by a Killeen police homicide unit.
