The spirit of generosity is alive and well in Killeen.

Harvest Ministries a Friends 2 Friends is inviting everyone in Killeen and surrounding areas to enjoy a free bagged lunch every Tuesday and Thursday from 11 AM until they run out of lunches.

"Everyone is welcome," retired staff sergeant Audrey Venning wrote in an email about the weekly event. "Nothing is required except a hungry appetite and a smile!"

If you're feeling hungry on those days or know someone who could benefit from a free, nutritious meal, stop by 408 N. 4th Street in Killeen. It's just across the street from both the old Killeen Police station and the Greyhound bus station.

Speaking of neighbors helping neighbors, Phyllis Jones with our sister station My Kiss 1031 will host a Community Connections Informational Block Party Saturday, July 27 in front of the Friends In Crisis Homeless Shelter at 412 E. Sprott Street from 11:00 AM until 4:00 PM.

There'll be music, vendors, and a game truck for the kids, but the overall goal of the party is to bring people together to gather and share information we can all use to help the less fortunate in Central Texas. More information about the block party can be found here.
