A woman in Killeen allegedly gave her child alcohol poisoning and is currently facing a felony charge.

According to a report from the Killeen Daily Herald, Killeen police were dispatched to a home after receiving a call about a child who was in distress after consuming alcohol  on February 13.

The mother, Francine Marie Antonowsky, 31, told police that she had given her child at least three shots of whiskey and some wine, “but also stated that she could not remember everything,” according to affidavit obtained by the Herald. Authorities found two empty whiskey bottles as well as two large bottles of wine.

Officers described Antonowsky as “acting erratically and covered in vomit,” and reported that Antonowsky "appeared to be in an extremely intoxicated state". According to police, a man also present in the home at the time also appeared to be intoxicated.

When police found the child, she appeared to be lifeless, and had reportedly thrown up in one of the bedrooms. She was taken to the hospital by EMS, and doctors found her blood alcohol content to be .184. The legal limit for adults is .08, so this child's BAC was 2.5x that of the legal limit, again, of ADULTS.

Antonowsky has been indicted by a Bell County jury on a felony charge of injury to a child with intentional bodily injury after her child suffered alcohol poisoning. The child's age has not been released.

For very obvious reasons, children should not be given alcohol. I mean, we have a legal drinking age for a reason. I have no idea what possessed this mother to get her child sickeningly intoxicated.
