Killeen PD Needs Help Locating Missing 16 Year Old
Once again the Killeen Police Department is asking for help from the public in finding a 16 year old who was last seen in the 2400 block of Shoemaker Drive.
According to the KPD Facebook post, Megan Sanderson is a biracial female with brown hair and brown eyes. She recently dyed her hair blue. She stands 5'7" and weighs about 189 pounds.
No other information is given, but if you see her or know of her whereabouts, you are asked to please contact the KPD at (254) 501-8800.
This marks the second request for help in locating a missing person in as many days. Yesterday KPD asked for the public's help in finding 20-year-old Cynthia Louise Bratt. Her family haven't heard from her since April 26, 2021. They reported her missing Thursday, May 6.
Missing Persons by the Numbers
Seems like we are always hearing about missing children. I looked into the numbers and found that the Texas Center for the Missing reported that in 2020 alone, 346,237 of the 543,018 people that were reported missing across the country, by the National Crime Information Center or NCIC, were under the age of 18.
That number includes 37,023 of the 49,110 people reported here in Texas. The Houston-Galveston Region alone reported 16,877 missing children in 2020.
Texas Center for the Missing also reports that runaways account for 80-85% of missing children, with family abductions accounting for 10-15%.
The more dangerous abductions are the non-family abductions at about 3-4%. Non-family abductions tend to be the second most serious cases bodily injury and death are more likely.
Stranger Abductions are at 1%, but these are the most serious cases because bodily injury and death are most likely.
If you have any information on the whereabouts of Megan Sanderson or Cynthia Louise Bratt, please call KPD at (254) 501-8800.
