Powerful Voices Are Coming to the Killeen, Texas Poetry Slam
I would be lying if I said that I don’t absolutely just love these types of events when they come to Killeen, Texas. There’s nothing more important to me than the power of literature and spoken word, and I am so excited that the Killeen Poetry Slam and Rhythm & Vibes Showcase is coming back.
RETURN OF THE KILLEEN POETRY SLAM
This fantastic event is going to take place Friday, July 22 at the Killeen Civic Center - 3601 S. WS Young Dr. Doors open at 5:30 PM with a pre-show at 6:00 PM and the main event at 7:00 PM.
I recently had a chance to speak to a young lady who actually was one of the reigning champs of the poetry slam. Influential poets from Houston, Dallas, and Austin will be there, but most importantly, plenty of Killeen area natives will bless the microphone. As the organizers put it, these poets will "leave the audience spellbound and clinging to the edge of [their] seats".
COME SEE WHY KILLEEN IS THE BEST TO EVER DO IT!
There's so much talent here in Central Texas. We've even had two incredible singers make it to the finals on The Voice in recent years. Remember Rose Short and Jershika Maple? And we can't forget Manny Keith, who represented Miami, Florida but grew up here in Killeen.
We've got our fair share of poets, singers, rappers, songwriters, and insightful comedians, so I have no doubt we'll hear some powerful material at the Killeen Poetry Slam. Hopefully we'll hear yours as well.
