After a Thursday night fire at their school, students of Leon Heights Elementary attended class at Belton ISD headquarters Friday as fire investigators continued their work.

According to BISD spokesperson Elizabeth Cox, district officials were notified of the fire around 9 PM Thursday. Firefighters said the flames were discovered in a hallway near the school's main office and quickly extinguished.

Although damage was minimal, the building could not be released back to the district until fire investigators were allowed to work the scene Friday.

Today, students attended classes at the Belton ISD Wall Street Auditorium and Administration Building at 400 North Wall Street.
