I’m Lynn Woolley with your Logic Minute for 3/20/13

Representative Naomi Gonzalez of El Paso drew cheers on the House floor when she admitted her mistake. Gonzalez had gotten drunk, then got behind the wheel and crashed her BMW into a car which hit a bicyclist. No one was killed and all’s well. After all it was just a mistake. Oh so? A mistake is like forgetting your keys. Driving while intoxicated is a crime – and she did it on purpose. But what irritates me is that when she tearfully told fellow legislators how sorry she is – she was smothered with hugs, high-fives and even flowers. This came after she had stated she couldn't say TOO much – because she’s lawyered up to fight the charge. What kind of Texas lawmaker drinks and drives, endangering those around her? And what kind of lawmaker applauds her – for what – admitting to the crime? Gonzalez should resign and sign into a clinic. Those who applauded her have their own issues.
