Lone Star College Stabbing Suspect Dylan Quick Dreamed Of Killing

14 people were injured  after Lone Star College student Dylan Quick began stabbing people at random Tuesday afternoon.

The stabbings began around 11:00 a.m. in the community college’s Health and Sciences Building in Cyprus. Many of the victims were stabbed in the face and neck as students filed into the hallway of the building either leaving or heading to class. Quick stabbed and slashed his way toward an exit and seemed to be headed for a second building before he was tackled and subdued by fellow student and ex-Marine Eric Betrand. Betrand managed to grab Quick’s backpack and bring him down, holding him until police arrived on the scene. The Lone Star Campus was shut down.

Quick later told police that he’d fantasized about stabbing someone to death from an early age and had been planning his attack for some time. The attack came just two months after a shooting at the North Harris campus of Lone Star College in Houston.

Quick had been involved with the school since his teens. His mother had gotten him involved with the college’s library program in order to help him catch up on his English skills. Quick was born deaf and received a cochlear implant at age 7. Homeschooled by his mother, he was reportedly an avid reader and planned to finish his associate’s degree at Lone Star College before studying accounting at the University of Houston. Quick is the only suspect in the incident.
