Legendary metal giants Metallica have just written a fat check for a Texas community college to help students with job skills training.

Lone Star College in the Woodlands is one of ten community colleges across the nation that will receive a $100,000 check from the band's All Within My Hands Foundation.

No wicker basket weaving or advanced adult coloring book variegation scholarships being awarded here, folks.

According to a news release, AWMH teamed up with the American Association of Community Colleges to launch "a major workforce education initiative that provides direct support to community colleges to enhance their career and technical education programs. These programs provide skills and services to students who are looking to enter a traditional trade or other applied learning program."

So, not only are these schools the first who'll host Metallica Scholars, but the money will go to helping students develop real skills that will make them valuable contributors to the American workforce. No wicker basket weaving or advanced adult coloring book variegation scholarships being awarded here, folks.

Let's all keep an eye on this foundation and see if we can't get some of that sweet Metallica money at some of the fine schools here in Central Texas next time!
