UPDATE: Sam DeLeon with our news partner KWTX reports that the incident began when an officer attempted to check on the welfare of a potentially suicidal person in Williamson County. That escalated into a traffic pursuit, which ended on State Highway 195 near Mountain Creek Road just south of Killeen with the fatal shooting of the suspect.

According to DeLeon's report, police are saying they have not determined who shot the suspect..


 

UPDATE: According to a report from KVUE-TV, a state trooper was checked on a person "resting in their vehicle" in Williamson County around 1:20 PM. This check somehow escalated into a traffic pursuit involving state troopers and Williamson County deputies.


 

A suspect was reportedly fatally shot near the Bell County/Williamson County line Thursday afternoon.

Williamson County Deputies told KXAN-TV the incident began as a traffic pursuit, which ended on State Highway 195 near Mountain Creek Road shortly before 1:30 PM.

Williamson County officials said the suspect was dead at the scene. We are awaiting more details.
