One Dead, One Hospitalized Following I-35 Crash in Belton

One person is dead and another hospitalized after a crash on I-35 Monday night.

Our news partners at KWTX report that the crash occurred near Amity Road between Belton and Salado.

According to Belton police, the head-on crash occurred around 8:56 PM. One driver was transported to Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Temple. The other was pronounced dead at the scene.

Southbound lanes of I-35 were backed up for miles until around 3 AM.

KCEN-TV reports that one of the drivers was traveling in the wrong direction along southbound 35 when the crash occurred.

Belton police continued to investigate the crash Tuesday morning.
