One Dead, Suspect in Custody After Shooting in Temple, Texas
Hardly a day goes by without reports of a shooting making headlines. This time it's happening even closer to home as even more gun violence is being reported too close to home, this time in Temple, Texas as another shooting leaves one person dead and one in custody.
Gun Violence
It's a sad truth that most big cities and metro areas deal with on a much more regular basis, so when reports of gun violence happen in smaller cities, it brings more attention to the issue than what it might get in cities like Houston, Dallas, San Antonio or Austin.
Here in our part of Central Texas, Temple, Belton and Killeen, we don't see gun violence as regularly, so when it does happen, we stop to take notice.
Shooting in Temple
A deadly shooting in Temple has left one person dead and another in custody as police search for answers.
According to Temple PD, officers responded to a report of a gunshot victim in the 1600 block of N. Second Street gust before 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 1. When they arrived, police found one female victim dead at the scene from a gunshot wound.
Arrest Made Follow Shooting
Police were able to located a male suspect, 59-year-old Tommy Lee Shelton, Sr and placed him in custody into the Bell County Jail. He's being held on a third-degree felony charge.
FOX44 News reports that the victim was 47-year-old Erin Gilligan marks the City of Temple’s first homicide of 2022.
