The fight started when a woman didn't want to leave the hospital, even though she had been medically cleared to go home.
Seton Medical Center Altercation
The Killeen Daily Herald is reporting that officers with the Harker Heights Police Department were called to the hospital for a report of a disturbance on Wednesday.
According to the affidavit, when police arrived, nurses told them that a woman was refusing to leave the hospital after being medically cleared by hospital personnel.
41-year-old Killeen resident Jonique Tasha Crothers was told by officers that she was criminally trespassing and needed to leave. Crothers began arguing, saying she couldn’t walk and needed medical treatment.
Jonique Tasha Crothers Did Not Agree With Her Assessment
Officers then asked a doctor to explain to Crothers that she did not require any treatment or procedures. She became argumentative, and although she had previously claimed she couldn't walk, Crothers stood up out of the hospital bed and ran toward the doctor. An officer then stepped in between Crothers and the doctor.
The officer had her mask ripped off by Crothers, who scratched the officer's face, kicked at her, and threatened to “murder” her, according to the affidavit. Bell County Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke arraigned Crothers on a charge of assaulting a public servant, and Killeen Daily Herald reports that he set her bond at $100,000.
However, according to the Bell County Jail Inmate Detail, her total bond amount is $105,000. Crothers was also charged with resisting arrest, a Class A Misdemeanor, along with assaulting a public servant, which is a third degree felony.
