Petition Calling for Equal Amounts of Dogs and Buns per Pack Gains Signatures
This has been an issue since the dawn of time, and finally someone is trying to do something about it and I'm all in!
Have you ever stopped to think about why you can buy hot dogs in 10-packs, but buns only come in 8-packs? Why is that exactly? Is it a ploy to get us to buy more dogs and buns to even it out? It took me a minute, but I figured it out - you would need to buy five packs of hot dog buns and four packs of hot dogs to even it out. That's 40 HOT DOGS!
Now the people have risen up and are demanding change.
Change to the bun count. Change to the dog count. Change the packaging so it all evens out. Seems like a brilliant idea and it's led to thousands of signatures on a petition calling for dogs and buns to be sold in equal packs.
According to Newsweek, a petition called the "Heinz Hot Dog Pact," which was started by the Heinz Ketchup company and has gathered over 29,000 signatures demanding change. Change to the packaging their parents, grandparents and maybe even their great-grand parents, have endured their whole lives.
The petition is "calling on big bun and big wiener companies to find the answers to this hot dog packaging mismatch, once and for all...Let's change hot dog history together."
I couldn't have said it better myself.
It's the change many have called for, but has fallen on deaf ears all these years. Now may have a fighting chance. Finally, a movement that will unite us all. Let's end uneven packaging together.
