WACO, Texas (AP) — Members of the public are helping create a massive mural on the side of a Waco library.

With an outline already drawn by a design team, participants were given paint cans and brushes to fill in spaces. Members of the public worked on the mural Saturday at the East Waco Library and were invited to also work on the project Sunday. This weekend is the only time the painting will be open to the public instead of selected volunteers.

The Waco-Tribune Herald reports the mural is expected to be completed by June 29.

The mural consists mostly of scenes depicting the neighborhood's history, including a scene of people on horseback in a Juneteenth parade.

The mural is part of a regional arts project backed by the Mid-America Arts Alliance.
