San Marcos: a Most-Paddle-Worthy Texas Town

I've heard the lifestyle described in San Marcos as enjoyable, leisurely. Maybe that's why a leading leisure magazine has bestowed upon the Texas community an honor fit for those who take life at a leisurely pace.

Last year, Canoe and Kayak magazine (which I didn't even know existed) put out the list of the 25 best paddling towns in the United States. No this is not a list which honors those who believe in corporal punishment.  It doesn't hurt that a major whitewater park is right in the middle of town.  Now that summer is upon us, it might be a good time to revisit San Marcos as a weekend getaway spot.

One of the great reasons to live in the hill country of Texas is the natural water ways.  I can totally see myself floating downstream in a stream like that. Just pick me up at the end.
