COVID-19 is bringing out the crazy in some people. A Houston, Texas mother is looking at criminal charges after police say she put her son in the trunk of her car while she went to get him some additional testing.

KPRC reports that Sara Beam, a 41-year-old mother who works at Cypress Falls High School in Houston, allegedly decided to put her son, 13, who had already tested positive for COVID, in the trunk of her car and dive him to a drive-thru testing center.

According to authorities, Beam was taking him in for additional testing and didn't want to get exposed herself, so she put him in the trunk.

Witnesses say they heard noises which prompted the on-site health services director, Bevin Gordon, to ask Beam to open the trunk. That's when they found the un-harmed 13-year-old boy. Beam said he was in the trunk so she wouldn't get exposed. Gordon then called the police.

Following the investigation, the Cypress Fairbanks ISD Police Department issued a warrant for Beam's arrest on charges of child endangerment.

The testing event was organized by the Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District where Beam had been working since 2011. She has since been on administrative leave.

Surveillance video showed Beam opening the trunk and her son climbing out.

This all happened on Monday, January 3, and an arrest warrant was issued on Wednesday, January 5th. Beam was arrested on Saturday the 8th and posted a $1,500 bond.

People will go to extremes to protect themselves, but to put your own child in the trunk? Thant's just crazy.
