Solix In Killeen to Expand, Create 180 New Jobs
Solix Inc is bringing 180 news jobs to Killeen as part of an incentive package approved this week by the Killeen Economic Development Corporation (KEDC).
The New Jersey based company already operates a facility at 402 East Avenue D in Downtown Killeen. Jennifer Hetzel with the Killeen Chamber of Commerce announced Thursday that the company has been seeking to expand services in Texas and was considering several other cities, including El Paso. They chose Killeen due to the availability of a skilled workforce in the Killeen area and a competitive incentive package from the KDEC.
According to their website, Solix " has successfully administered state and federally funded programs requiring complex regulatory program expertise and protection of confidential information."
"Each year, Solix administers programs and issues eligibility decisions that result in the award of more than $5 billion in public benefit funding," the site's About Us section reads.
In a news release, Killeen Mayor and KEDC member Jose Segarra said, "“I am excited that we were able to facilitate this agreement with Solix. They are clearly committed to continued investment in downtown Killeen, an area the city has worked tirelessly to redevelop.”
To qualify for KEDC’s job creation incentive, Solix, Inc. is required to maintain a minimum base employment of 175 jobs that predate the effective date of the agreement, and to hire and maintain 180 additional, full-time equivalent positions over a 36-month period following the effective date of the Agreement.
The company must maintain its operations at 402 E. Ave D and lease an additional 6,000 square foot building for a second operation in Downtown Killeen.
