Soup Throwing: How To Get Banned From a Restaurant in Temple, Texas
As someone in media, I get a lot of weird stuff in my email inbox every day. I'm used to it by now, but sometimes I get something that makes me do a double-take and shake my head. I have to say, I was not prepared to receive a press release from the Temple Police Department about a woman being banned from a restaurant for throwing soup at someone.
Alejandra Arreguin with Temple PD reports that at 1:21 Sunday, November 7, officers responded to a disturbance call from Sol De Jalisco at 4201 S. General Bruce Dr.
After speaking with some folks, police learned that a woman who'd been in earlier to pick up an order had later called to complain. After the call, the woman reportedly showed up at the restaurant and got into an argument with an employee.
The woman complained that the soup in her order was too hot and had melted the plastic lid of the carryout container.
According to police, the woman threw the soup at an employee, then took off before police showed up.
Video shared on Reddit's r/PublicFreakout shows the incident, including the moment the soup was thrown.
The Temple PD news release reads, "No physical injuries were sustained," but the employee said in a video posted to TikTok that the spices in the soup made it feel as if she'd been pepper sprayed.

Police say charges are pending, and the woman has been banned from the restaurant.
Temple PD Deputy Chief Allen Teston had this to say:
“We do not condone this type of behavior and hold our citizens to the highest standard. If a citizen believes they have received poor service we advise them to remain civil until the problem is resolved.”
That's right: Temple's Deputy Chief of Police had to issue a statement reminding people not to throw soup at restaurant employees if they're not feeling appreciated.
What a time to be alive.
