An 18-wheeler crash had southbound I-35 traffic through Temple at a standstill Thursday morning.

The crash occurred near Mile Marker 300 around 6:45 AM. A DPS trooper reportedly witnessed the crash of a large FedEx truck and was able to get the driver out safely. The truck caught fire at some point, but fire crews were able to get that blaze under control. A hazardous material team is now working to clear the scene of diesel and other chemicals that may have spilled on the roadway.

Drivers are advised to seek alternative routes, including Loop 363.
