Suspect in Shooting of Temple Teenager Identified
Police have released the identity of a man suspected of fatally shooting another man in Temple Sunday afternoon.
19-year-old Elijah Williams of Temple was booked into the Bell County Jail at 5:22 PM Sunday. Unspecified third degree felony charges against Williams were pending Monday morning while under review by the Bell County District Attorney.
Police responding to a reported shooting in the 1500 block of East Calhoun at 1:33 PM Sunday found 18-year-old Mikhail Jawan Ellis suffering from a gunshot wound. Ellis was transported to Baylor Scott & White Hospital, where he later passed away as a result of his injuries.
No further details about the shooting have been made public.
Police spokeswoman Shawana Neely said Sunday that a suspect had been taken into custody, but police did not release Williams' identity until Monday morning. Williams remained in the Bell County Jail late Monday morning. Bond information for Williams was not available at press time.
