Teen Shot Near Downtown Killeen McDonald’s Tuesday
A suspect is in custody after a Tuesday morning shooting that left a teenager injured.
Our partners at News 10 report that reports of gunfire near the McDonald's restaurant at 109 East Rancier reached police around 11:55 AM. Responding officers found an 18-year-old victim at Avenue D and 2nd Street. He had to be airlifted to Baylor Scott & White Memorial Hospital in Temple.
The suspect reportedly ran in the direction of a nearby apartment complex, where was discovered and arrested around 12:15 PM.
Investigators believe the shooting was the result of an argument between the victim and shooter that escalated quickly.
Parents of students at nearby West Ward Elementary school were notified that the campus was placed on lockdown while police investigated the shooting. School officials said children were never in danger, but the decision was made to ensure campus security.
