Authorities Tuesday identified a temporary worker who died Monday in a forklift accident at Tarco Roofing at 2403 Taylors Valley Rd. in Belton as Timothy Troupe, 34, of Killeen.

I've only done "temp" work once in my life. It was awful, but, I see know it could've been worse.

I worked in a meat packing plant in Mandan, North Dakota. It was my job to push ingredients around to the blenders that made sausage and hot dogs. I got to work in a cooler, which was nice since we had to be dolled up in sanitized clothing. I would push 450 lbs. of backfat to one blender, run back and grab 250 lbs. of beef, then try to get back to the blender before the backfat container got dumped in the blender. All this while trying to avoid forklifts hauling uncut bacon to the smokehouse. Fun times were being had by all those days.

The City of Belton announced that a temporary employee, who was working at Tarco Roofing, died today in an industrial accident involving a forklift.

It seems the man died after he was pinned to the ground by a rolling forklift. The 9-1-1 call was made at 1:56 p.m. The man's name was not released at this time pending notification of next of kin.
