A Temple bank was on lockdown Tuesday after a suspicious substance was found inside a package left in a dropbox.

Police responding to the Bank of America at 3550 South General Bruce Drive called Temple Fire & Rescue for assistance at 10:30 AM. Fire crews then restricted access to the building and isolated individuals inside the bank.

A total of 13 people – 5 customers, 5 employees, and 3 police officers – remained in the building as of 2:20 PM. There have not been any reports of symptoms or complaints from people inside the bank.

Temple Fire & Rescue’s Haz-Mat team is running tests and consulting with experts to determine what the substance is and if it poses a risk to the anyone’s health and safety.
