Temple Family Displaced by Early Morning Fire
A family in Temple was forced to evacuate a home after it was severely damaged by a fire early Monday morning.
Temple Fire and Rescue responded to the blaze in the 4800 block of Hartrick Bluff Drive around 12:32 a.m. According to a press release issued Monday afternoon, all four residents of the home escaped without injury, though one elderly man was transported to Scott & White Hospital for examination following smoke exposure.
The cause of the fire is unknown, but it appears to have started in a bedroom. That room received heavy fire damage, while the rest of the home suffered smoke and heat damage. A smoke detector was present in the home, but it was not operational.
Fire crews had the flames under control by 1:12 a.m. and cleared the scene by 3:09 a.m. The dollar loss to the structure is estimated to be around $50,000.
