Dr. John Middlemiss Palmer, a pediatric pulmonary physician practicing in Temple, was arrested Friday after investigators reportedly discovered child pornography on a digital storage device in his office.

In a news release, the Texas Attorney General's office said Palmer, 55, came under suspicion after lewd images of children were allegedly uploaded to an online storage account he used. During a search of his office, investigators say they found child pornography on a digital storage device. Other devices were then seized from Palmer's office and home for examination by a Digital Forensics Unit.

According to the news release, Palmer has denied any involvement in child pornography.

If found guilty in this case, Palmer could face up to 20 years in federal prison.

Texas ttorney General Ken Paxton said his office is committed to tracking down, arresting, and prosecuting anyone proven to have exploited or abused children, and urged parents to be vigilant and report any suspicious people to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
