The Temple Police Department has arrested a man in connection with the disappearance of Tommy Herbert.

According to a press release from the City of Temple issued Tuesday afternoon, authorities arrested Palmer Grant Contreras for the murder of Tommy Herbert.

Herbert was reported missing to Temple Police on May 29, 2019. Police discovered the body of a man buried in a shallow grave in Killeen on September 12, 2019. After forensic testing, officials were able to determine that the body belonged to Herbert.

Further investigation showed that Herbert died as a result of homicide. More specifically, police believe that he was died of gunshot wounds. Upon review, the DA’s office determined there was sufficient evidence to charge Palmer Grant Contreras with the murder of Tommy Hebert.

Contreras had been in custody since May 31, 2019 on charges of tampering with evidence and possession of child pornography. A murderer and child predator, what a combo.

A murder warrant was issued and served on December 22, 2020 while he was already in custody on other charges.
