Temple Police Car Struck by a Fleeing Suspect on Airport Road
Around 2:30 PM Wednesday, a Temple police officer attempted to pull over a speeding vehicle when a person got out with his hands raised, claiming to have suffered a gunshot wound.
While the officer was checking on that person, the vehicle that had been pulled over sped away. That officer put out a description of the vehicle that was later spotted in the area of Airport Road and Twin Oaks. When another officer attempted to stop the suspect's, car the two vehicles collided.
A press conference with Temple Public Information Officer Shawana Neely at the scene was captured on KTEM AM 1400's Facebook page and can be viewed above.
The two individuals inside the car fled on foot. Those two suspects were apprehended and have been identified as Frankie Nathaniel Boyd III, 23, and Duvalle Sommerville, 24. Officers used a taser on one of the suspects, who we're told was hospitalized. Both suspects were in the Bell County Jail Thursday evening.
More information was expected to be released after a preliminary investigation.
