The Temple Police Department, Temple Fire & Rescue, Central Texas Veterans Health Care System, and Baylor Scott & White will be conducting a full-scale emergency training exercise at 7 PM Thursday, September 12 in and around the Mayborn Convention Center, 3303 N 3rd St in Temple.

The exercise will focus on emergency response to an active shooter, and will involve a simulation of the area's crisis response plan and procedures to help assure a coordinated, timely, and effective response and recovery in the event of a major incident.

There will be a significant law enforcement, fire, and emergency service presence at the Mayborn Center during the exercise, as well as on area roads as crews travel to emergency care facilities.

In order to avoid any confusion, the public is being notified ahead of time. The exercise is closed to the general public.

While we hope and pray Temple never experiences an active shooter situation, it's good to know our first responders will be prepared to save lives.
