Two people were hospitalized after an SUV stolen from one of our employees collided with a sedan near the corner of Ave G and S. 17th St in Temple Wednesday morning.

A post to the Temple Police Department's Twitter page says the crash occurred at 9:23 AM. Two people in the sedan were taken to Baylor Scott and White Hospital with unspecified injuries. An officer told our employee that one of the two people in the sedan was in critical condition.

Five juvenile occupants of the flipped SUV fled the scene. An officer told our employee that at least one of the five suspects was apprehended. The officer said the juveniles had been joyriding in the SUV since it was stolen from our parking lot around 2 AM Wednesday, and that this isn't the first time these youths have run afoul of the law.

When we arrived at the scene of the crash to get photos, a team of officers were investigating the wreckage behind police tape.

Note: An initial draft of this article mistakenly reported that the theft of the vehicle and the crash occurred Tuesday morning. The article has since been corrected.
