After a number of recent shooting incidents, Temple police again found themselves investigating after a man was left wounded by gunfire Sunday afternoon.

This time it happened in the 11800 block of FM 2305 near the Exxon/Dickeys/Liberty Mart Cafe.

According to a release from Temple PD Media Relations Specialist Chris Christoff, officers responded to reports of a shooting in the area around 4:40 PM. Upon arrival, they discovered that a man had sustained a gunshot wound near the business. He was transported to Baylor Scott and White Medical Center for treatment. As of Sunday evening, the patient's condition had not been made public.

Detectives continued their investigation Sunday evening, and Christoff reported that there was not yet a suspect.

Police are asking anyone with information that may prove helpful to contact them at 254-298-5500. Information can also be sent to Bell County Crime Stoppers at bellcountycrimestoppers.com, through the P3tips App, or by calling 254-526-TIPS (8477).

Unfortunately, this seems to be becoming something of a trend in Temple. Police were recently investigating two cases of gunfire damaging property in the Northwest Hills area of town near our studios. Thursday morning, a man was reportedly approached by a stranger and shot on French Avenue, and two men were shot during a home invasion early Friday morning.
