The Temple Police Department has released the identity of one of two suspects in the fatal stabbing of an elderly woman in Temple late last week.

37-year-old Christopher Romel Henry was booked into the Bell County Jail on Friday, June 19 at 9:12 AM. He's been charged with capital murder and remained in the Bell County Jail Monday morning in lieu of $1 million bond.

Temple PD spokesman Cody Weems reported Monday that charges against a second suspect are pending further investigation. That suspect's name was not released.

Temple police were dispatched to the Bridge Apartments, 404 South Fryers Creek Circle, Thursday night around 9:50 PM. There, they found 68-year-old Rose Davis with life-threatening stab wounds. She was transported to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center, where she later passed away.

Police have not yet commented on what may have motivated the stabbing.

In other crime news, Temple police announced last week that they had released a man initially suspected in two shootings and arrested his twin.

According to police, one of two people shot at a residence in the 500 block of South 16th Street on the evening of Tuesday, June 9 initially identified 38-year-old Frederick Banks as the shooter. Frederick was arrested and charged later that night.

During their investigation, police say they realized Frederick's twin brother, Dederick, was actually the suspect they were after. Frederick was released, and Dederick was Wednesday, June 17, and faces two charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He also suspected in a shooting that left a man injured at Club Heavy in Temple on Sunday, June 7.

Bell County Jail records showed Banks still in custody Monday morning in lieu of bonds totaling $400,000.
