Temple Police Warn About a Telephone Scam
Temple police are now warning the public to be wary of a telephone scam claiming your relative is in jail.
Police have reports from at least 3 people who have gotten these calls asking for Bond Money.
The caller claims to be with a bonding agency, or an official who can get that relative out of jail. They just need the money. Anywhere from 16 hundred to 9 thousand dollars.
When the victims asked for verification, the caller claimed there was a “gag order” in effect.
Temple PD says these victims did not fall for the scam, but they do want to warn the public about this particular ruse
They ask that you pass this information on to parents, grand-parents, and great grand-parents.
Don't wire any money of give these people your bank information. Never give out your personal information over the phone.
