The attempted robbery of a convenience store in Temple Tuesday night ended awkwardly for everyone involved after the clerk recognized the would-be thief.

As reported by KXXV, a juvenile suspect wearing a hood and mask entered the GK Mart at 1405 West Avenue M shortly before 10 P.M. and told the clerk he had a gun. However, the boy had been in the store earlier that day, and the clerk easily recognized him despite the disguise. Rather than complete the robbery or run away, the boy took off the mask and hood and bought an item before leaving the store.

When police arrived at the scene, they found the boy getting into a car with a pellet gun and mask inside. The suspect was detained until his parents arrived to pick him up. Because of his young age, his identity has not been released.
