Usually when you hear a report of someone's face being blow off on July 4th, it's because of a firework launch gone very, very bad. Well, this case involves fireworks, but there's more to the story.

Our partners at News 10 shared the report from KTRK. Police in Harris County say a 19-year-old man was shot in the face with his own gun while attempting to knock over a fireworks stand.

It happened Thursday around 4 PM. The suspect reportedly approached the stand and demanded cash. When an employee brought the money, police say the suspect set his gun on the counter in order to free up his hand to grab the ill-gotten booty. That's when another employee picked up the gun and fired right at the suspect's melon.

Yeeeeeeouch.

The suspect was alive when paramedics arrived to take him to a hospital. It's yet to be determined if he'll pull through.

How much can you get from robbing a fireworks stand anyway? I hope it was worth it, kid.
