Texas Man Charged after Facebook Video Shows Road Rage Incident
49-year-old Texas man caught on cell phone video pointing a gun at another driver on I-35 has been charged with deadly conduct.
WFAA reports that Joseph Benjamin Sida turned himself in to police Monday, was arrested Tuesday, and bonded out of the Dallas County Jail Tuesday morning. He faces a year in jail and a $4,000 fine if convicted.
Victoria Best, the driver who recorded the incident on Friday, told WFAA Sida brake checked her on the highway. She took out her phone and began recording. In the video, Sida is seen slowing down to get alongside Best's vehicle, then pointing a gun.
Sida, a licensed security guard, told police he believed Best was pointing a gun at him, and that he pointed his in self-defense. According to WFAA, Sida could lose his license if found guilty.
A strange aspect of this story: Sida might have faced a felony charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon if Best had actually laid eyes on the gun, but because she didn't notice the weapon until she reviewed the footage, lesser charges were pressed.
