If you noticed a big police presence near Belton Dam today and were wondering what happened, well...we know the FBI were involved.

Rosemond Crown and Eric Franklin with our partners at News 10 report that federal agents "swarmed" a house just north of Miller Springs Nature Center near Belton Dam on FM 2271 Thursday around 7AM. Neighbors reportedly heard flash bangs.

A spokesperson with the Temple Police Department told Crown and Franklin that local officers were assisting FBI agents and the U.S. Attorney’s Office, but didn't give any more details. Likewise, an FBI representative identified as Michelle Lee told the reporters there was "an ongoing law enforcement operation”, but didn't go into specifics.

Police had cleared the scene by Noon.

I don't know about you, but my curiosity is piqued. I'd heard reports of traffic over the dam being slow and diverted and a heavy police presence, and it's frustrating to not have any answers.

Lee told News 10 there is no immediate threat to the public.

That's reassuring I guess, but we'll keep an eye out for more information. Hopefully police will be able to tell us what happened soon.

In more positive news, DPS Trooper Juan Tovar, who was injured in a shooting last week, has returned home to Madisonville. In fact, a crowd gathered to welcome him home and wish him well as he recovers.

Tovar was injured in last week's mass shooting at Kent Moore Cabinets Bryan. KBTX-TV reports that the suspect, Larry Bollin, told Texas Rangers he opened fire at the business because of harassment from co-workers - one of whom was fatally wounded in the rampage.
